Two Wilton Y gymnasts score perfect 10s

Ashley Umhoefer and Alyssa Smeriglio both had perfect 10 scores on bars at the Wilton Y gymnastics team’s recent meet in Darien.

The Wilton Y gymnastics team attended Darien’s Emily Fedorko Challenge invitational meet on March 12-13. One of the aims of the meet was to have gymnasts be conscious of all the good qualities that Emily Fedorko expressed, and through that to work hard and keep smiling.

Two Wilton gymnasts earned scores they will likely smile about for years to come — a perfect 10. Alyssa Smeriglio, Level 3, and Ashley Umhoefer, Level 4, both earned the honor with their bars routines.

Level 3

In the youngest age division, Alyssa Mariani was the all-around champion, also finishing first on vault (9.6), second on floor (9.4), and fifth on beam (9.1).

In the next group, Lauren Condon placed third on beam, and scored a 9.05 on floor. Ella Mancuso scored 9.15 on floor.

In the next age group, Alyssa Smeriglio won first place on bars (10.0), second place on floor (9.5), fourth place on vault, and fifth place in the all-around. Ella Arghirescu took third on vault (9.45), fifth on beam and bars (9.4), and scored 9.25 on floor. Emma Incao placed second on bars (9.85) and fifth on beam and vault (9.3).

In the next age group, Becky Arnowitz finished second on beam (9.25) and third in the all-around, and scored 9.4 on beam and 9.25 on floor. Samantha Bauer placed second on beam (9.25), fifth on vault (9.2) and in the all-around, and scored 9.2 on floor and 9.3 on bars. Gemma Huck placed fourth on floor (9.4) and bars (9.55).

In the top age division, Isabella Giordano won first place on vault (9.45), was fourth in the all-around, and scored 9.2 on bars. Simona Gheorghe placed second on vault (9.35) and fourth on beam.

Level 4

In the youngest age division, Ashley Umhoefer was the all-around champion, also finishing first on bars (10.0) second on vault and floor (9.15) and fourth on beam (9.2). Sienna Morris placed second on floor (9.15) and fifth on vault.

In the next division, Donna Stepnowsky finished second on bars (9.5), third on floor (9.2), fourth in the all-around, and fifth on vault. Grace Condon placed second on floor (9.4) and fifth on beam (9.0).

In the next age group, Alyson Scheurkogel placed second on beam (9.25), third in the all-around, fourth on bars (9.45), and fifth on floor (9.05). Maddie Rosa finished fourth on floor (9.1), and fifth on bars (9.0), vault, and beam. Kaylie Berghaus placed second on bars (9.65) and fourth on floor (9.1). Chloe Jureller won first place on floor (9.4) and finished fourth on vault and beam.

In the top age group, Michaela Kane won first place on bars (9.4), second on beam (9.15) and in the all-around, and third on vault. Ava Walker won first place on beam (9.2) and scored 9.0 on floor.

Level 5

In the youngest group, Olivia Mannino finished fifth on beam (9.1) and scored 9.0 on floor.

In the next group, Peyton Gildersleeve took second on beam (9.1), third on floor (9.0) and bars, and fourth on vault and in the all-around. Emily D’Onofrio finished fourth on beam and fifth on bars, while Maeve Burke finished fifth on beam. Emilia Riina took fourth on floor and Grace Chan took fifth on floor.

In the top age group, Isabella Jureller won first place on beam (9.0) and was third on floor (9.2). Katie Walsh won first place on vault and second on beam. Stefania Mariani took second on vault and fifth on beam, and scored 9.0 on floor.

Level 6

In the first age division, Mia Karlehag won first place on floor (9.85) and fifth on beam (9.1) and in the all-around.

In the next group, Lilly Byrnes took first place on floor (9.6), fourth on bars and in the all-around, and fifth on vault.

In the upper age division, Megan McNamara was the all-around champion, also placing first on bars (9.45) and second on floor (9.6). Rachel Esslinger won first place on vault (9.0) and took third on floor (9.4), fourth on bars (9.1) and fifth in the all-around. Dillon Loud placed fourth on beam (9.0) and scored 9.05 on floor. Erin Daugherty placed second on vault and fourth on floor (9.35) and beam (9.0). Lauren Cooper placed fifth on floor (9.3) and vault, Emma Daugherty finished fourth on floor (9.35), and Jenna Smeriglio scored 9.0 on floor.

Level 7

Alyssa Jarrett won first place on bars (9.4) and finished third on vault and fourth on beam. Kate Ginsburg finished third on beam and scored 9.05 on floor. Kayla Heber took fourth on floor (9.3).

Level 8

In the youngest age group, Sam Huffman took first place on bars (9.45), third on beam, and fifth on floor. Marra Woodring placed fourth on vault.

In the oldest age group, Lizzie Berta took first place on bars, second on floor (9.45) and in the all-around, fourth on vault, and fifth on beam. Grace Breen also took first place on bars and finished third on vault and fifth on floor and in the all-around.
