Person-to-Person’s Blues & BBQ Benefit Sept. 13 raised more than $150,000 for its scholarship program. Nearly 200 guests attended the event at Stepping Stones Museum for Children.
Guests included a number of dignitaries include Congressman Jim Himes (D-4th) and state Rep. Gail Lavielle (R-143).
P2P Executive Director Ceci Maher of Wilton said the benefit exceeded expectations.
“This is only the second time in as many years that P2P has hosted a fund-raising event on this scale; the first being the inaugural Blues & BBQ Benefit that was held in 2012,” she said.
“From the very beginning, P2P recognized the need to go beyond the basics of food, clothing and shelter to achieve our mission. Education is the clearest path out of poverty and changes the trajectory not only of a student but of a family,” she added.
Person-to-Person, Inc. provides low-income individuals and families living in lower Fairfield County with basic emergency services. Its service area includes Wilton.
