Wiltonian Arnaldo Fraccaroli was among the percussionists who performed in the Eastern Percussion Ensemble’s fall concert at Eastern Connecticut State University on Dec. 6.

Fraccaroli is a senior music major at the university in Willimantic, Conn.

The Eastern Percussion Ensemble performs a broad spectrum of musical styles from the original and transcribed works of the percussion and marimba ensemble repertoire.

Eastern percussionists perform in the university’s concert band, wind ensemble and jazz ensemble, and are given frequent opportunities to perform alongside the university’s Concert Chorale and in the Opera Workshop for pieces that require percussion.

Under the direction of Professor Jeff Calissi, the ensemble performed several selections, including Overture for Percussion, Lost Souls, Songo Concertino, Storm Warning and Dance, Clapping Music, Escaping a Nightmare, and Cantina Band.

The ensemble focuses not only on traditional works in the percussion repertoire but also on unusual styles, such as traditional West African hand drumming.
