Ten-year-old Wiltonian Alexa Steckel was named a regional winner of the Kohl’s Care Scholarship Program and received a $1,000 scholarship for college.
She and 13 other scholarship recipients were selected for the positive impacts they have made on their communities.
About three years ago, Alexa launched Help Change Cancer, an initiative that raises money for organizations fighting back against cancer.
Help Change Cancer also recruits volunteers to participate in various fund-raising activities that support these organizations.
Alexa’s mother Julie Steckel estimates her daughter has raised more than $6,000 since she started Help change Cancer back in 2013.
