Ogden Bigelow Jr., 86, died Saturday, Dec. 20, in Manchester, N.H. He was born on Sept. 24, 1928 in Montclair, N.J., the son of the late Ogden Bigelow and the late Elizabeth (Stephens) Bigelow. He was married to the late Yolande (Muhlethaler) Bigelow for close to 29 years.
Mr. Bigelow graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1946 and attended the University of Pennsylvania after serving in the U.S. Army. He was married to “Yo” in 1960 and they lived in Wilton, Conn. for 25 years and raised four children. Mr. Bigelow was President and CEO of Computer Clearing Corporation.
Known to many as “Denny,” he enjoyed volunteering, offering his time and energy to The United Way, The Public Health Nursing Association, and The Wilton Go Kart Club, as well as FISH, Wilton’s volunteer-run transportation program for medical appointments. Mr. Bigelow was an avid ham radio operator and invested countless hours volunteering with Airforce MARS receiving and forwarding communications from around the globe, many from members of the armed services.
After Yo’s death, Mr. Bigelow retired and moved to Old Saybrook, Conn. where he enjoyed playing bridge with the American Contract Bridge League and attained the Life Master level. Mr. Bigelow loved being out on the water in his boat, Topknits. He obtained his U.S.C.G. 100 Ton License and had the honor of leading the Parade of Ships when the Tall Ships came to Connecticut.
He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Richard Hamilton of Rutland Vt., four children, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A private family ceremony will take place in the spring.
