What’s opened and closed on New Year’s Day?

New Year’s Eve is Wednesday, Dec. 31. It is not a federal holiday.

New Year’s Day is Thursday, Jan. 1. It is a  federal holiday.

Wilton town offices will be closed New Year’s Day.

Wilton Public Schools will be closed through Friday, Jan. 2.

Wilton Library will be closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Wilton Senior Center will be closed New Year’s Day.

Wilton Transfer Station will be closed New Year’s Day.

Post offices will be closed New Year’s Day.

Banks will be closed New Year’s Day.

Department of Motor Vehicles will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, and reopen at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2.

MDM Sanitation and D.A. Vento Refuse Co. will be closed.

Many stores and services, such as pharmacies, will have limited hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Metro-North will operate on a special weekday schedule on Dec. 31, with reduced morning and evening peak services, additional inbound trains in the afternoon and early evening, hourly service outbound after 8 p.m., and post-midnight outbound service between midnight and 5 a.m. On New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, Metro-North will operate an hourly service, with two additional mid-day trains to New Haven to accommodate higher demand between noon and 2. Metro-North will operate on a Saturday schedule Friday, Jan. 2, with additional morning inbound and evening outbound trains.

The Bulletin will be closed Jan. 1 and Jan. 2. Next week’s edition will be published Thursday, Jan. 8.
