Fares on Metro-North’s New Haven rail line will go up 1% on Jan. 1, 2015. Monthly tickets on sale for January now reflect the new fares. The one-way peak fare from Cannondale and Wilton will be $15.75, $11.75 off-peak. The monthly fare will be $343.
As part of legislation enacted to have passengers help contribute toward the cost of the new M-8 rail cars entering into active service, rail fares are being increased by approximately 1% across all rail fare types, including weekly and monthly UniTickets (combined bus/rail tickets). Additional 1% increases will take place on Jan. 1, 2016, 2017 and 2018 under the legislation.
Of the 405 M-8 rail cars ordered, 391 have been delivered to Connecticut. All 405 should be in service in February 2015. Although in service now only on the New Haven Line, the M-8 cars will eventually also be used on Shore Line East.
