Frederica S. Wiseman, 94, passed away at home, Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, surrounded by her children. Frederica, known as “Freddie” to her friends, was born Sept. 23, 1920, in New York City, N.Y., to Eugene and Mercy Schanz. She was united in marriage to William J. Wiseman on Oct. 15, 1940 in the Lady Chapel of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He preceded her in death in 1997. They were married for 57 years.
She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in White Plains and Katherine Gibbs School in New York, and worked briefly before marrying and becoming a mother.
Freddie loved to read, cook and play bridge, was an active volunteer, and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Georgetown, Conn. She loved to travel and followed her husband’s work all around the world, including Belgium, Italy, and Singapore.
She is survived by her children: Antonia E. Wiseman, Wilton, Conn.; William J. Wiseman Jr. Arlington, Va.; and Frederic K. Wiseman, Hanceville, Ala.; five loving granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Snyder.
Bouton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A mass of remembrance will be celebrated in early spring.
