First Selectman Bill Brennan’s office offered an update regarding the natural gas pipeline construction project in Wilton. Construction continues this week in the following areas.
•One crew from GPL Construction will begin to install pipe on the Norwalk River Valley Trail starting at the Merwin Meadows end of the trail. Only a segment of the trail will be closed during construction activities. It is anticipated that this crew will install approximately 200 feet of pipe a day.
•A second crew from GPL Construction will continue with the installation of pipe on River Road in the residential zone working south toward Horseshoe Road. It is anticipated that this crew will install approximately 200 feet of pipe a day.
•One crew from Henkels & McCoy will continue with the installation of pipe on Wolfpit Road (Route 106).
Two or more construction crews will be working 12-hour days (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) Monday through Friday.
Yankee Gas will maintain access to homes and businesses, as well as ensure priority passage of emergency vehicle traffic through construction areas.
Police officers or flagmen will oversee traffic control.
This work is expected to continue through the end of November 2014.
