The Wilton High boys hockey team opened its 2014-15 season with a 2-1 non-conference victory over Watertown/Pomperaug on Saturday night at the Winter Garden in Ridgefield.

The Warriors (1-0) dominated the game, but Watertown/Pomperaug goalie Carl LaRosa played well to keep his team close.

Brian Manzer’s goal gave Watertown/Pomperaug (1-1) a 1-0 lead with 3:45 left in the first period.

Ned Zawislak tied the game for Wilton when he scored 25 seconds into the second period on the rebound of a shot by Kyle Jonas.

Alec Biegen put the Warriors ahead to stay just 1:12 later, with 13:23 left in the second period. Luke Rizzo assisted on Biegen’s goal.

Wilton goalie Kyle Buckley made several good saves in the final minutes of the third period to preserve the win.
