To the Editors:

On Aug. 12, Wilton’s Republican registrar of voters ran the Republican primary election for governor, lieutenant governor and comptroller in Wilton. Our primary proceeded smoothly; voter turnout was at 11%.

We would like to thank Wilton’s dedicated group of 2014 primary officials who gave their time and expertise in staffing our town’s polling places. Because of their willingness to attend pre-election training and to work long hours on Primary Day, our town’s elections were well organized and welcoming to voters. We especially wish to recognize the hard work of Republican Deputy Registrar of Voters Joan Starr, who assisted us in preparing for the primary. We also appreciate our wonderful team of Republican poll workers and assistant registrars who worked at our three polling places and at town hall. They were led by Republican Head Fred Sindel who also served as a polling place moderator, with Tim Dineen, Alex Corra and Joan Starr, moderators.

We also appreciate the help of our school custodians, our Department of Public Works for posting reminder signs around town, and Fire Marshal Dave Kohn’s crew for setting up the polling places.

Please remember to check the town of Wilton’s Web site — wiltonct.org — and our Government Access Channel 79 for information to assist voters in future elections. We’re looking forward to seeing Wilton’s voters at the next gubernatorial election on Nov. 4, 2014.
