The Wilton Baseball and Softball Association (WBSA) is holding tryouts for the 2015 Blue Crush Fastpitch Softball 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U travel teams.
Tryouts will take place Sunday, Aug. 24, at Middlebrook Middle School, at the softball fields behind the school and next to the Route 7 tennis courts. Tryouts begin at 1 p.m. for all ages. A final tryout will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7, at Middlebrook, also at 1.
Eligible girls must be between the ages of eight and 16 as of Dec. 31. Girls trying out for 16U will have been born in the years 1998 or 1999; 14U in 2000 or 2001; 12U in 2002 or 2003; and 10U in 2004-2006.
The teams are looking for players for whom softball is their primary spring and summer sport. The season will run from early June through the end of July, culminating in the end-of-season Fairfield County Fastpitch Softball League (FCFSL) championship. Indoor workouts will take place from January through March.
Professional coaches will provide detailed, age-appropriate instruction to assist the players in developing their fastpitch softball skills. The teams will play approximately 22-30 games each and hold practices once or twice a week depending on the week’s game schedule.
