A Wilton teen turned himself in at police headquarters April 2 after he learned there was a warrant for his arrest.

The warrant stemmed from a car accident on Feb. 28, in which the 17-year-old was involved.

Police said the teen was driving his 2009 Honda Fit southbound on PortlandAvenue on Feb. 28 when he failed to navigate a sharp curve near 73 Portland Avenue and hit a car parked at that address.

The teen was hospitalized, and police determined by searching his medical records that at the time of the accident, he had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15.

After turning himself in, he was processed and released on a promise to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on April 12, to answer to the charges of DUI, DUI under 21, and failure to drive in the proper lane.

He was also charged with violating restrictions on 16- and 17-year-old drivers. Police said a witness reported the teen had been driving with a passenger.

The teen was also referred to juvenile court for interfering with an officer.
