Josie Marie Smith, who plays Janie in Janie Charismanic, also had a role in the first Judith Studios film, I Hate Tom Petty. Director Ila Duncan said Ms. Smith was cast for the second film because she is “really talented, hardworking and easy to work with.”

Festival bound

Janie Charismanic, an independent film starring Josie Marie Smith and Anthony Marks, above, and co-written and directed by Ila Duncan, a former Wilton resident, has been accepted into two film festivals in Los Angeles: the Silent River Film Festival and LAFemme International Film Festival. Both take place in October. The film recently won the Best Romance film award at the Manhattan Film Festival. Ms. Duncan and her father, Woodson Duncan of Wilton, established Judith Studios to produce Janie Charismanic and a previous film, I Hate Tom Petty.
