Wilton Congregational Church offers three services for Easter.
An ecumenical sunrise service will be at Hillside Cemetery at 6:30.
Services in the 1790 sanctuary take place and 9 and 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Anne Coffman as worship leader. They will include parts of the Missa Brevis in C by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Soloists and a professional orchestra, conducted by Minister of Music Richard Glafke, will join the Adult Choir in performances of this rarely heard masterpiece.
Missa Brevis in C, also known as “The Sparrow,” was composed during Mozart’s tenure as Konzertmeister to the Archbishop of Salzburg. It is one of several missae breves, 30 minutes or less in length, that Mozart composed for his patron.
The orchestral music on Easter will also feature two Church Sonatas Mozart composed as instrumental pieces to be performed between scripture readings.
