Drum Hill Road is closed between Highview Drive and Glen Hill Road today, Feb. 16, due to a 6:30 a.m. accident in which a car spun out and hit a telephone pole.
According to police, who first gave notice of the closing at 7 a.m. via email, Drum Hill Road will remain closed until 7 or 9 p.m. Frontier Communications will be replacing the “cracked” pole today, but must wait until rain forecasted to persist through the afternoon subsides, police said.
Police said icy roads the morning of Feb. 16 played a part in the accident. A 2004 Buick Rendezvous spun out on the ice and hit the telephone pole across from 123 Belden Hill Road.
The driver was not injured, and the accident is still under investigation.
