Scoring 30 unanswered points in the first half, the Wilton High football team rolled to a 37-16 victory over Bassick on Thursday at Tom Fujitani Field.
It was the second straight win for the Warriors, who are now 3-1 this season.
TJ Savvaides ran seven yards for a touchdown to give Wilton a quick 7-0 lead.
The Warriors then got two points when the ball was snapped over the Bassick punter’s head and into the visitor’s end zone, with the Lions recovering and Wilton awarded a safety.
RJ Romeo’s eight-yard touchdown pass to Rod Djaly Thoby increased Wilton’s lead to 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Romeo then scored on a three-yard run, and, following an interception by Thoby, Savvaides added a five-yard TD run to make it 30-0 with 5:58 remaining in the first half.
A 30-yard touchdown pass from Romeo to Savvaides pushed Wilton’s lead to 37-0 midway through the third quarter.
Bassick (0-4) got on the board with a touchdown and a two-point conversion later in the third quarter and then scored a second touchdown in the final period.
