At 2:30 in the morning of Dec. 19, police observed a 2008 Subaru Outback swerving as it traveled north up Danbury Road.
According to police, the Subaru nearly struck the curb near Wilton Acres as it swerved into the road shoulder.
Stopping the car farther north near Wilton Hills, police administered a standardized field sobriety test to the driver, Matthew Ames, 33, of 42 Prospect Street, Ridgefield, who did not perform the test to standard.
Ames’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.152. He was arrested on the charges of DUI and failure to drive in the proper lane, and was released on a promise to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 29.
In the early morning hours of Dec. 20, police intercepted another DUI driver on Danbury Road, this one speeding.
Police said Alexander Alan Senie, 28, of 5414 Union Street, Westborough, Mass., was northbound in his 2012 Audi A4 — at a speed of 50 mph in a posted 40-mph zone — when he passed a police cruiser.
The cruiser was on the shoulder of the road performing a traffic stop on another car. It had its strobe lights on, but Senie did not slow down or move over, police said.
Senie was found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was taken into custody, charged with DUI and traveling too fast. He refused a breath test.
He was then released on $500 bail and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 31.
