A Waterbury woman was detained in Southbury by state police on Nov. 29 around 6:30 p.m. after a traffic stop for suspected larceny revealed her, a passenger in the car, to have had an active arrest warrant out of Wilton.

The warrant, issued by the Wilton Police Department Feb. 17, was for crimes she is suspected to have committed against a “61-year-old, handicapped resident of Wilton,” a police press release said.

Allegedly, the woman, Sequan Monice Francis, 23, of 57 Rosewood Avenue in Waterbury, is guilty of second- degree identity theft, second-degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card, and receipt of money/goods/services obtained illegally, against the aforementioned individual.

Police added that Francis was working as a caregiver at the time and that the victim was under her care. Francis was transported to Wilton police headquarters, where she was held on $10,000 bond and was subsequently arraigned at Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 30.
