A multi-sensory Living Museum exhibit will bring history to life at Our Lady of Fatima School, 225 Danbury Road in Wilton, on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
The exhibit will be the culmination of the school’s new middle school project, which melds English and language arts with social studies and involves sixth, seventh and eighth graders selecting historical individuals and bringing them to life.
Sixth graders will select individuals from Egyptian history, seventh graders’ historical figures will be from early American history, and eighth graders will select individuals from the Civil War period.
At the Nov. 10 event, students will deliver speeches, dress in costumes and prepare presentation posters with facts, photos and timelines related to the lives of their selected figures. Guests will be able to view the presentations and talk with the students to learn about the historical figures.
“This project and event provide the children with an opportunity to experience a ‘day in the life’ of an historical figure and allow each student to become immersed in their respective time period of study,” said social studies teacher Caitlin Schneider.
“From an English/ELA perspective,” said English/ELA teacher Danielle Mancuso, “the project requires the students to work with multiple sources, prepare MLA cited work and deliver an oral presentation one-on-one to attendees.”
The Living Museum will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and prospective students and families are welcome to attend.
