Wilton’s Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County recently received a $2,500 grant from the First County Bank Foundation in support of its Community Health Program.
“Through our Community Health Program, we offer workshops and health screenings such as medication safety, memory screenings, cholesterol screenings, blood pressure screenings, workshops on how to talk to your doctor, caregiving workshops, stress reduction workshops and much more,” said Sharon M. Bradley, president and CEO of the nursing agency.
“Our programs are free of charge and open to all in the community,” she continued. “Our goal in offering these workshops and screenings is to help educate community members and enable them to take a proactive role in their own health care.”
Established in 2001, in honor of First County Bank’s 150th anniversary, the First County Bank Foundation was created to distribute funds to nonprofit organizations that support community and economic development for children and families in lower Fairfield County.
Bradley said the grant will help the agency “maintain a full schedule of screenings, presentations, and workshops and thus provide essential community health programs to those in need in our community.”
A non-profit community organization for more than 100 years, Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County provides professional nursing and support services, senior care management, physical rehabilitation, health education, community wellness programs and compassionate hospice and palliative care for adults and children in Wilton and throughout Fairfield County.
