Summer activities

Five Crowns is a progressive rummy-style game. It has spades, hearts, diamonds and stars! It can be played by two to seven players. It’s easy to learn and lots of fun to play.  Five Crowns Card games take place on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 12:30  at the senior center. Call Nerina Klobas 203-210-5624 for details.

Jewelry Workshop will take place on Friday, Aug. 21, 10 to noon, at the senior center.  There is a $5 drop-in fee per class. Viola Galetta conducts this jewelry-making workshop.  No prior experience is necessary. Enjoy the fun of making your own beaded jewelry.  Select materials to match your own style.

Enhance Fitness includes 30 minutes of endurance-type activity. It takes place Thursday, 9 to 10, with instructor Leslie Hinshaw. There is a $3 drop-in fee.

Feldenkrais takes place Friday, 10 to 11. Explore this exciting and innovative movement method designed to relieve pain, exercise your brain and teach you to move with greater comfort, ease, and fluidity. Cathy Paine, Instructor, $5 drop-in fee.

Lunch is served most Thursdays at noon, $3. Seating is limited. Reservations required.  Chef Karen White.

Tai chi contains a series of gentle and graceful movements performed with respiration coordination and deep concentration. It has been shown to prevent falls and improve the functioning of daily activities. Joe Alampi, instructor. Wednesdays, 10:30 to 11:30, $3 drop-in fee.

Bingo is offered most Thursdays at 12:45 p.m., 25 cents per card. Winners get “the pot” each game.

Tuesday and/or Thursday Yoga meets from 11 to noon on Tuesdays and 10 to 11 on Thursdays. There is a $3 drop-in fee. Denise O’Hearn, owner of Vibrant Moves in Wilton, conducts this gentle yoga class that warms up your joints, stretches and strengthens your muscles and helps your balance and focus.

Line Dance Fusion blends traditional dance steps with elements of modern line dancing.  This is a great form of exercise and social interaction. Beatriz Araujo, instructor. Mondays, 10:30 to 11:30, $3 drop-in fee.

Open Bridge is played on Wednesdays, 10 to 12:30. During the summer, this game is not supervised by an instructor.

Summer Corridors

Corridors is the bi-monthly newsletter for the senior center. It is mailed to Wilton residents who are registered voters age 60 and above. For the months of July and August, Corridors is available at the senior center and on the town website at wiltonct.org. Just click on the newsletter icon on the right panel of the homepage.

In the course of the renovation project, individual rooms in the senior center and social services wing of the building may, from time to time, become unavailable for public use.  All senior programs and the room assignments will be posted at or on the entrance doors.  We appreciate your understanding and patience.
