The Wilton Treasure Chest and Antique Appraisal Fair will appeal to buyers and sellers. The event, which will feature items consigned for sale, takes place Saturday, June 13, from 10 to 4, at Wilton Presbyterian Church, 48 New Canaan Road. Early birds may enter from 9 to 10 for $20.

From 1 to 4, antiques expert Patricia Funt Oxman and photograph conservator Mary Kay Porter will be available for consultation. Visitors may bring table-topped sized items or photos to be appraised for $20 per item or $50 for three items.

For more than 10 years Funt had a New York City gallery popular with celebrities, socialites and decorators.  For 20 years, until 2010, she had a shop in New Canaan.  Today she sells items on the Internet and at numerous antique shows. She also lectures on antiques and participates in appraisal days. She particularly enjoys smaller items, jewelry, silver, wood carvings and all kinds of unusual things.

“Ask people to bring small and table top size antiques including jewelry, silver, brass, wood carvings, collectibles, etc.  American and European items mainly but I will give anything old thing a try,” she said.

For consigning with the Treasure Chest, items must come marked with a price and be delivered to the church on Wednesday, June 10, between 3 and 5, Thursday, June 11, 10 to 4, or Friday, June 12, 10 to 4. The organizers reserve the right not to accept items for a variety of reasons including poor condition, or objects that are controversial or distasteful.

Consignment item proceeds will be a 50/50 split. Anything that doesn’t sell must be picked up by 5 p.m. June 13, or  it becomes the property of the church).

Lemonade and cookies will be available.

Among the items that will not be accepted are large furniture, curtains, rods,  clothing (unless tags are still on garment), shoes (unless unworn), undergarments,  bathing suits, stuffed toys or bicycles.
