Wilton Education Association awards scholarships

Each year, the Wilton Education Association (WEA) awards the Robert E. Gallagher Memorial Scholarship, along with additional scholarships for children of WEA members who are pursuing their undergraduate degrees.

On Thursday, May 28, WEA President Andrew Nicsaji awarded $500 WEA scholarships at Middlebrook School.

Annie Wilson, daughter of Cider Mill teacher Kathleen Wilson, received this year’s Robert E. Gallagher Memorial Scholarship check. She will be attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield this fall.

The eight other students to receive WEA scholarships were:

Moira Cunius, daughter of Cider Mill special education teacher Kathrene Cunius. She will be graduating from Ridgefield High School this June and attending San Diego State University in San Diego.

Zachary Cunius, son of Cider Mill special education teacher Kathrene Cunius. He graduated from Ridgefield High School in 2012 and currently attends the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Max Libre, son of Middlebrook music teacher Jennifer Ginsberg. He will be graduating from Norwalk High School this June. He will be attending either Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., or Union University in Jackson, Tenn., this fall.

Margo Libre, daughter of Middlebrook music teacher Jennifer Ginsberg. She will be graduating from Norwalk High School in June. She will be attending either Muhlenberg University in Allentown, Pa., or Union University in Jackson, Tenn., this fall.

Kaitlyn Marino, daughter of Wilton High School guidance counselor Deborah Marino. She will be graduating from Joel Barlow in Redding this June and will be attending Washington College in Chestertown, Md., this fall.

Kateleen Meehan, daughter of Cider Mill science teacher Kevin Meehan. She will be graduating from Wilton High School in June and attending Northeastern University this fall.

Daniel Sheehan, son of Middlebrook world language teacher Peg Sheehan. He graduated from The Taft School in 2013 and currently attends Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

John Watson, son of Wilton High School speech pathologist Cheryl Watson. He graduated from Staples High School in Westport in 2012. He currently attends Champlain College in Burlington, Vt.
