Most pitchers can only dream of starting the season as Jackson Ward did Wednesday afternoon in Brookfield.
Ward threw a no-hitter to lead the Wilton High baseball team to an 8-0 victory over the host Bobcats in the opening game for both squads.
Ward finished with seven strikeouts and two walks. He also hit two batters.
Wilton had just eight hits but took advantage of several Brookfield errors. Three of Wilton’s runs were unearned, including one in the top of the first inning that gave the Warriors an early 1-0 lead.
James Meany went 3-for-4 for Wilton, driving in two runs and scoring one run.
