The Norwalk River Watershed Association will celebrate spring with a nature walk led by David Havens on Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. in New Canaan. Havens will lead a walk to observe emerging amphibians. He will begin with a short introduction on amphibians and how to spot them, then lead a woodland walk to visit vernal ponds with salamanders, newts, frogs and toads. Participants may discover some of the many species that occur in this area, search for eggs and tadpoles, and learn about amphibians’ development and seasonal habitats.

The meeting place is the first parking lot on the right, behind the ball field at St. Luke’s School, 377 North Wilton Road, New Canaan. Tall, waterproof boots are suggested. The event is free and all ages are welcome. Anyone interested in attending should call the Norwalk River Watershed Association at 1-877-NRWA-INFO (877-679-2463) for reservations, information, to check for cancellation in case of rain, or for further directions to the meeting site and parking area.
